MOSAIC Lab conducts multidisciplinary research at the intersection of 6G and beyond networks, cloud and edge computing, artificial intelligence, network softwarization, autonomous systems, and secure and trustworthy communications.
We envision future networks not merely as communication infrastructures, but as intelligent and programmable distributed environments in which connectivity, computing, storage, sensing, intelligence, and security operate together.
Our core research activities include zero-touch telco cloud orchestration; autonomous, agile, and resilient cloud-continuum management; advanced networking for ultra-reliable and low-latency communications; AI-native networking and GenAI-powered system architecture design; and secure and trustworthy networking. We investigate how AI, including local edge intelligence and small language models, can support orchestration, optimization, anomaly detection, prediction, autonomous decision-making, and real-time system operation.
A major focus is on translating these technologies into demanding future services and vertical applications. Our research addresses connected and autonomous vehicles, including massive uplink of vehicle-generated data to edge infrastructure for cooperative perception, road safety, traffic intelligence, HD mapping, predictive maintenance, and other value-added services. We investigate 6G-enabled UAVs and Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations, supporting reliable command and control and applications such as infrastructure inspection, disaster response, agriculture, environmental monitoring, logistics, and public safety.
We also investigate the integration of Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) into 6G, including satellite, HAPS, UAV, and terrestrial infrastructures; multi-orbit and multi-layer networking; spectrum management; AI-driven orchestration; and edge computing in space and air. The objective is resilient and ubiquitous connectivity across urban, rural, remote, maritime, aerial, and otherwise difficult-to-reach environments.
Another important direction is the Factory of the Future, where 6G, edge cloud, IoT, robotics, and local AI work together to enable real-time industrial intelligence. We study anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, process optimization, operational alerts, production auditing and traceability, as well as security and privacy protection for increasingly autonomous industrial environments.
Across these research directions, security, privacy, resilience, and trustworthiness are treated as fundamental design requirements. Our work is strongly experimental and leverages open-source networking, cloud, virtualization, containerization, orchestration, automation, monitoring, and SDN technologies to build prototypes and validate new architectures under realistic conditions.
Ultimately, MOSAIC Lab seeks to bring together 6G connectivity, intelligent edge-cloud computing, AI, autonomous systems, and secure digital infrastructures to support emerging services including autonomous mobility, UAVs, immersive applications, industrial automation, IoT, digital twins, and globally connected intelligent systems.
